Ask AI
Ask plain-language questions about your workspace data and get answers drawn from your live inspection records, each one showing the queries behind it.
Ask AI lets you query your workspace data in plain language. Type a question and Auditmark runs a bounded set of query steps against your live records, then writes a direct answer in the thread and shows the data behind it. No SQL, no exports, no waiting for a custom report.
The feature is available in the main navigation under Ask AI.
Layout
On a desktop or tablet the page is split into two areas:
The conversation rail (left, fixed width) lists your saved conversations and holds the New chat button and a search box.
The chat area (right) carries a header that reads "Ask AI" with the subtitle "Verifiable answers from your live workspace data", the message thread for the active conversation, and the composer at the bottom.
On a phone the rail is hidden. A Chats button in the header opens it in a slide-out panel; picking a conversation or starting a new chat closes the panel.
Conversations
Each conversation is a saved thread of questions and answers scoped to your account. Other admins in your organization cannot see your conversations. A note at the bottom of the rail restates this: conversations are private to you, and your numbers never leave your workspace for training.
Starting a new conversation
Select New chat at the top of the conversation rail. The active conversation is tracked in the URL, so you can bookmark or reload a thread and return to it.
How conversations are titled
Auditmark sets the conversation title automatically from the content of the thread. You do not need to name it manually. Until a title is set, the entry reads "New chat".
Finding a conversation
The rail groups conversations by recency into Today, This week, and Older, based on when each thread was last updated in your local time zone. The most recent buckets appear first.
To narrow the list, type in the Search chats box above the conversations. The list filters to titles that match as you type. Select the clear button inside the box to reset the search. When nothing matches, the rail shows "No matching chats."; before you have any conversations, it shows "No chats yet."
Switching between conversations
Select any entry in the rail to open that thread. The active entry is highlighted, and the URL updates to reflect it.
Deleting a conversation
- Find the conversation in the rail.
- Select the actions menu (the three-dot button) to the right of its title and choose Delete.
- A confirmation dialog appears titled "Delete this conversation?" with the detail that this removes the thread and its messages and cannot be undone.
- Select Delete to confirm, or Keep to cancel.
Deleting the active conversation returns you to the empty state in the chat area.
Suggested questions
When you open a new conversation before sending any message, the chat area shows a heading, "Chat with your workspace data", and a set of example questions grouped by category. Select any card to send that question immediately. The starters are:
| Category | Question |
|---|---|
| Trends | How has the average inspection score trended this quarter? |
| Corrective actions | Which sites have the most overdue corrective actions? |
| Throughput | How many inspections were completed in the last 30 days? |
| Compliance | What is our pass rate on safety inspections this month? |
Selecting one sends it as your first message and starts the answer right away.
Composer
The composer sits at the bottom of the chat area. Its placeholder reads "Ask about your data...".
| Behavior | Detail |
|---|---|
| Maximum length | 500 characters, with a live count shown next to the field |
| Send | Press Enter, or select the send button |
| New line | Press Shift and Enter together |
| While pending | The text field and send button are disabled until the answer arrives |
The send button shows a spinner while Auditmark is working and stays disabled while the text field is empty. A line under the composer reminds you that answers come from your live records, that AI can be wrong so you should check the steps, and that your numbers are not used for training.
The message thread
Your questions appear on the right side of the thread. Auditmark's answers appear on the left, each labeled "Auditmark AI". The thread scrolls automatically as new messages arrive. Sending a message shows your question immediately while the answer is being prepared.
Working indicator
While Auditmark is working on an answer, an "Analyzing your workspace data..." indicator appears below the last message. It disappears when the answer is ready.
Charts
When a question resolves to a single number, a ranked breakdown, or a trend over time, the answer includes a small chart above the text:
| Chart | When it appears |
|---|---|
| Stat | A single value, with a percent change against the prior period when one is available |
| Bar | A ranked breakdown across groups (for example, by site or template) |
| Line | A trend over time across days, weeks, months, or quarters, with gaps shown where a period has no data |
Rates are shown as percentages. The text answer always accompanies the chart.
Copying an answer
Each answer has a Copy button below it. Select it to copy the answer text to your clipboard; the button confirms with "Copied".
"Based on your live data" step trace
Each answer includes a collapsible Based on your live data section. Expand it to see the trace of the query steps that produced the answer. Each step shows:
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Dataset | The data category queried (for example, inspections or findings) |
| Result | A short count of what the step returned (a value, a number of periods, groups, or rows) |
| Grouping | The dimension the result is broken down by, when one is used (shown as "grouped by") |
| Measure | The kind of calculation performed (for example, count or average) |
Use the step trace to check how the answer was derived. If a step queried the wrong dataset or grouping, the answer may not match what you intended, and you can rephrase your question. The trace is collapsed by default and appears only on answers that have steps.
What Ask AI can query
Ask AI draws on the same analytics data that powers the Dashboards page: inspections, findings, and corrective actions across your workspace. It runs a bounded set of query steps per question, so complex multi-part questions may need to be broken into separate turns.
For example, you can ask:
- Counts and totals ("How many inspections were completed this month?")
- Trends over time ("How has the average score changed week over week?")
- Rankings and comparisons ("Which template has the most open findings?")
- Corrective action status ("How many corrective actions are overdue by site?")
Ask AI does not answer questions that require data outside your workspace (for example, industry benchmarks) and cannot take actions on your behalf. To navigate individual records, use the Inspections page directly.
Privacy
Your workspace numbers are not used to train AI models. This applies both to the questions you ask and to the data used to answer them. Answers come from your live records only and are visible only to you.
